Briefly, the Mayoon ceremony is essentially a pre-wedding desi (South Asian) custom where the bride enters into a state of seclusion seven to fifteen days before the wedding. She is made free of all the household chores and errands during this time and is supposed to stay indoors, away from the public's view especially from guys.
In modern times, the bride does not go into seclusion. Rather some busy brides and their families combine the Mayoon ceremony with the Mehendi ceremony (putting of henna on the bride) into one big ceremony.
Typically, yellow shades are favored for Mayoon ceremonies. But other colors are also popular. We feature some non-traditional Mayoon outfits for you to consider in shades of blue and green dresses.
